How to Stay Well in the Heat.

We are having a heatwave!

I love it, and as a generally chilly person, it is the ultimate luxury to feel so warm. But we all need to adapt a little to keep ourselves well.

Getting enough water is paramount of course. You don’t need to drink continuously, but letting yourself get thirsty isn’t a good idea. If you feel drained and tired by the afternoon reach for a glass of water, take a refillable metal bottle out with you and to work ( no need to add to the plastic problem) Plenty of healthy plant-based foods contain water too, think of cucumber and watermelon.

Sun Screen
Don’t let your skin burn! I like to wear thin, loose, covering clothes over the skimpy things, rather than sunscreen, altho I do use some Neals Yard wild Rose sunscreen on my face:

Facial Mist
No nasty chemicals, and smells amazing! I get prickly heat - an itchy rash, from non-natural sunscreen, as does my daughter. So it's a no-brainer to avoid it. Cold Aloe Vera Gel is the best after- sun, and I also keep my Neals Yard White Tea Facial mist in the fridge as an instant cooling moisture boost:

Vitamin D is the great gift from Sunshine, we store it up in our bodies, through the skin's exposure to the suns rays, as well as from various food sources.

It’s paramount for good health, having a significant effect on the immune system, bone health, lowering cancer risk and being deficient has been linked to autoimmune disease. So let yours, and your kids skin see some sun for about half an hour a day before plastering on the sunscreen. Fill up your stores, to see you through the grey months.
Keep well! XXX
