I looked to Emma Seville at a sort of point of desperation – I tend to like to leave things when it comes to me. Dramatic as I sound, I was feeling really uncomfortable in my body and I felt like my personality has left me for a better option elsewhere. Additionally, during the first lock down, when others took up jogging and cheffing - is when I chose to stare at a work screen all day, stagnated and using this time as an excuse to drink on a Tuesday and eat all of the crisps! But that ‘letting myself go spot’ had really just exacerbated what I was feeling for many years before. And yet didn’t really know it.
No-one tells you, or really speaks about, peri-menopause sadly and with a bunch of younger friends, a lovely patient younger husband and access to a generation of family women that blush at the thought of discussing such matters - I really needed a bit of direction. And more importantly, I craved information. I knew what I didn’t want – and that was the standard medical answers to my questions. I intuitively knew that there would be a sensible route rather than a medical short cut.
On booking three sessions, I regressed to skepticism - I was proved completely wrong.
Emma has a way of reading her clients through cleverly delivering the right questions, listening and then informing. It was completely fascinating. None of this generic ‘wish-wash’ that you might tend to expect. By the time I left this inspiring hour – I knew I was peri-menopausal. I know it sounds daft but I needed confirmation. And the understanding of it all was a huge relief. It had been like sitting in session with someone that had all the answers. How rare is that and how magnificent it is when you’re the one that work and home look to for all the answers – finally some self indulgence (looking after yourself is not a bad thing turns out. Who knew?)
Emma wrote a succinct report, with a list of foods and supplements that she felt were applicable. Things we had discussed together in the session but I was bound to forget. It was really professionally presented and clear, so I could actually do it, rather than pop it in my knicker draw and job done.
After just 1 month, I’m not exaggerating when I say that I felt completely different. Calmer, cleaner inside, not in pain and no more flying off the handle – WHAT?
Session two was a review and a couple of additional adjustments. Talking about the physical exercise side and looking positively forward. Emma’s knowledge is addictive.

Hi Emma, I definitely want to maintain my professional relationship with you. Setting a date to meet again for a few weeks’ time sounds like a good idea. You’ve helped me realise I’m working too hard and it’s not doing me or my family any good. I left work at 4.10 pm this afternoon (unheard of) and I’ve had such a lovely evening with my boys.
